Mission
The mission of H.Y.P.E. Athletics Community is to create and strengthen infrastructures that support the positive development of Wayne County youth through athletic participation and competition, educational tutoring and literacy development, and social awareness with mentoring, counseling, life skills training and substance abuse education and prevention.
About HYPE Athletics
H.Y.P.E. Athletics Community has two components to the organization; athletics and social services. The first component, athletic services, includes training camps, leagues and tournaments in all sports such as basketball, football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, tennis and athletic development.
Our second component focuses on free in-school and after-school social services to the youth and their families, including tutoring, mentoring, counseling, substance abuse prevention, education and young professional entrepreneurial and leadership training.
A commitment made by our Board of Directors and partners to further invest in our communities with a plan to provide low income families an affordable home through our H.Y.P.E. Family Assistance Department will be our next attainable goal as a leader in youth and family services in the State of Michigan.
Our collaborative partners include the State of Michigan, Wayne County, The Derrick Coleman Foundation, Young Men in Transition, and many school districts and recreation departments throughout the county.
What makes our organization unique is our approach to serve all youth equally with passion and respect. Our method to evaluate our youth participants, which determines the needs of each child, basically allows us to provide accurate services to the thousands of youth we serve yearly.
In addition, we at H.Y.P.E. have the capability to directly and indirectly mentor and guide our youth through the practices of discipline, determination and hard work with our athletic programs. This is attributed to the experienced staff of college students, athletes, and coaches that dedicate their time and energy to ensure our youth are following the straight path to success.
Ultimately, it is passion that allows our organization to successfully accomplish our objectives and goals. Our commitment to serve guides our future generation of leaders to great success and an experience that can be used for a lifetime.
As it is stated “you only get out of life what you put into it.” It is our belief, our drive, and determination to stay focused on our promise; to bring good health, safety, tolerance and the highest of standards to communities serviced by H.Y.P.E. Athletics Community.
Organizational Objectives
HYPE Athletics will monitor the following goals/objectives:
- Improve law abiding behavior
- Improve family and social functioning
- Increase self-esteem
- Avoid/reduce substance usage
- Reduce recidivism by improving decision making abilities
- Improve school attendance
- Improve academic performance
- Improve athletic skills
H.Y.P.E. Athletics Community was established in 2001 to provide Wayne County area children a positive and constructive outlet through organized sports – free from drugs and violence.
