Young Professionals In Training (Y.P.I.T.) is available for high school students and focuses on various areas of employability, entrepreneurship, business management and ownership, college/vocational exposure and enrollment support, job readiness, financial literacy and job placement with local employers. Students attend class once a week for 10 weeks and upon graduation of the course, will experience employment opportunity in a chosen career profession. Our Y.P.I.T. program is available at no cost and we have approximately 100 graduates annually.
College Preparation
Prepares youth for the transition from high school to college. H.Y.P.E. Athletics plans to offer support for parents and students as they face these important challenges. These adjustments include initial separation anxiety, academic pressure, and relationship strains with friends and family. The topic includes tips for students, what to expect in the transition to college along with keys to a successful education.
Entrepreneurship
The steps it takes to initiate change and create value. Being able to turn problems into opportunities and find ways to succeed. Informative ways of managing and enterprise or business
Learn How to Fill out a Job Application and Build a Resume
This training identifies resume writing tips and the different types of resumes including chronological and skills-based resumes.
Methods of Communication Part 1: Customer Service and Salesmanship
Proper ways to deal with customers and sales. We assess ways to improve customer satisfaction before, during, and after a purchase.
Methods of Communication Part 2: Personal Presentation
The importance of professional appearance and what qualifies as proper dress code. We elaborate on the impact of personal hygiene in job interviews and the workplace.
Networking Events (Local Business Leaders)
All participants will be given an employment opportunity with local businesses.
Personal Finance
Establishing and protecting credit, loans, creating a budget and ways to manage personal finances in preparation for the professional world.
Professional Assessment
Ways to enhance professional behavior, conflict management and workplace values.
Work Ethics
Importance of reliability, initiative and hard work. We discuss ways to seek promotions and selected for better positions.
Career development is focused on assisting young men and women in all aspects of business, including resume building, networking and presentation. It is important to develop skills and educate the youth on future endeavors and related processes and procedures. The program specializes in giving each participant a competitive advantage during the interviewing process while entering the work force.
